Toitoi Manawa

Toitū te ako, Toitū reo – Toitoi Manawa!

‘Toitoi Manawa’ is our full immersion unit at Fairhaven School. These Māori medium classes cater for students Years 0-6 and provide instruction in Te Reo Māori. The name “Toitoi Manawa” means “to motivate, encourage and inspire.”

Our Kaupapa:

Whakaoho i te wairua o te tamaiti” (Awaken the spirit of the child)

Our Aim: (as set by whānau)

• Encourage ‘Whānaungatanga’ (sense of family connection and belonging)
• Inspire children and their whānau to succeed and be confident in who they are, and where they come from
• Promote learning within a Māori context
